Ken Block trades up to the M-Sport Transit Custom van

The Transit is a far cry from Block’s usual rally and racing cars but was designed in conjunction with the M-Sport WRC team

Ken Block has launched the first vehicle to go on sale carrying his signature. Fans of Block’s Gymkhana videos might be expecting a supercharged and turbocharged beast with 400bhp and four-wheel drive, but the reality is a little more mundane – it’s a Ford Transit Custom van.

M-Sport has turned its hand to a few Ford vehicles in the past, notably giving the Ranger an F-150 Raptor-style makeover. It’s also produced an M-Sport Transit Custom, offering up WRC styling on a practical load-lugger. Ken Block’s signature model builds on the standard M-Sport Transit Custom, with some extra style thrown in.

The standard model offers up 18” OZ alloy wheels, a bespoke rear exhaust and a rally-style bodykit including a spoiler, bumper extensions and front and rear diffusers. Inside, the cloth upholstery has been replaced with full leather, while bespoke M-Sport dials and floor mats also feature.

Ken Block has added a dose of his own style, blacking out the exterior with dark headlight housings, black wheels, and specially darkened Ford badges. The rubbing strips on the side even feature the livery pattern from Block’s Ford Focus RS RX race car, which is also carried over into the interior and onto the seats.

“I’m really stoked with how this collaboration turned out,” said Block. “I always thought that maybe someday I’d have a signature Ford vehicle, but I never thought that it’d be a van! Ha! I really like this thing though, it’s super practical for me since I have a wife and three kids and we travel a ton. This Ford Transit has the look and styling that I like, is fun to drive and manages to hold us and all of our stuff. We’ve been running around Norway in a test unit the last week and a half and I’m blown away by the looks and attention this thing has been getting. Plus my wife and kids like it, so it’s a win-win in my book.”

Ken Block confirmed earlier this year that the M-Sport Transit would go on sale in 2016, but no details have yet been confirmed.
