Jaguar F-Type updated for 2019 with new tech and torque vectoring

The revised Jaguar F-Type boasts a number of updates, including a bigger infotainment screen, special paint and torque vectoring

Jaguar F-Type 4-cyl review - front

The Jaguar F-Type sports car has been updated for the 2019 model year, with a host of changes including extra paint options, a bigger infotainment screen and torque vectoring across the range.

In addition, the F-Type now inherits Jaguar Land Rover’s power-related badging system. That means the entry-level four-cylinder model takes the P300 nameplate, while the V6 models are badged either P340 or P380. The 400 Sport has been dropped, but the F-Type R and SVR are unchanged.

Prices for the updated car start from £50,810 for the most basic 2.0-litre F-Type Coupe. The Convertible commands a premium of around £5,500, while R-Dynamic cars – with their bigger wheels, sports exhausts LED lights and gloss black details – cost roughly £3,700 more than standard. A range-topping SVR cabrio is £118,235.

Changes under the skin are few and far between, but all versions now get a brake-based torque vectoring system as standard. The P380 version adds a limited-slip differential and adaptive dampers, as well.

Inside, the F-Type now comes with Jag’s 10-inch InControl Touch Pro infotainment screen as standard. There’s still no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto connectivity, but a JLR spokesperson says that both are due later in the year. There’s new trim for the air vents, a frameless rear-view mirror is also included.

Elsewhere, the F-Type is now available with 18 new paint options. For £6,000, many of those are available with a matt finish, courtesy of the firm’s Special Vehicle Operations (SVO) division. There are new wheel designs, while the SVR version is now available with a spoiler delete option, too.

All 2019 Jaguar F-Type models are available to order now, with first deliveries expected next month.
