Jaguar I-Pace updated with Premium Black Pack and Amazon Alexa

Jaguar has given its electric I-Pace SUV a tickle for 2022, adding a new styling pack and some extra technology

Jaguar I-Pace

The Jaguar I-Pace no longer has the premium electric SUV segment to itself. Mercedes has since launched the EQC and Audi now has the Q4 e-tron – so, to keep its nose ahead of the competition, Jaguar has made a few minor tweaks to the I-Pace’s specifications.

First off, buyers can now select a new Premium Black Pack, which swaps the car’s standard grille, window surrounds, door mirror caps and badges for black replacements. The package also adds 22-inch gloss black alloy wheels, a new rear spoiler and air suspension.

Jaguar has also added a new Ostuni White paint finish to the I-Pace’s colour palette and improved the car’s infotainment system by adding Amazon Alexa as standard to its Pivi Pro system. This upgrade allows drivers to control the car’s navigation and music, check news and weather updates and connect to external smart devices with simple voice commands.

The system can also be linked to any Amazon-enabled device you have at home, and can be used to check things like the SUV’s battery charge level, remaining range and even whether the car’s doors are locked.

The Amazon Alexa upgrade will also be rolled out as an over-the-air update for those that already own an I-Pace fitted with Jaguar’s upgraded Pivi Pro infotainment system. Owners will soon be notified with an update prompt on their car’s touchscreen.

Buyers also get some other clever technology, such as a wireless smartphone charging pad beneath the centre console with enough space for two devices. The EV also has a built-in signal booster, which can help improve network reception in remote areas.

Nothing has changed mechanically on this updated version of the I-Pace. It features the same 90kWh battery pack and dual-motor powertrain, which develops 396bhp and 696Nm of torque. Jaguar says that’s enough for a 0–62mph time of 4.8 seconds and a maximum range of 292 miles of “real world driving.”
