Range Rover Sport HST heading to New York

Land Rover reveals new HST Sport will be unveiled at New York show with 375bhp supercharged V6, not coming to UK

Range Rover Sport HST

Land Rover has announced it will be bringing along a new HST variant of the Range Rover Sport to this year's New York Motor Show. The sportier model gets a 375bhp supercharged 3.0-litre V6 and distinctive styling add-ons, but won't be coming to Europe or the UK.

The HST's supercharged V6 is borrowed from the F-Type and new XE saloon. It produces 460Nm of torque in those models, and is designed to bridge the gap between the lesser powered V6 and full-fat 542bhp supercharged V8 in the Range Rover Sport SVR.

It's heading only to North American, Middle Eastern and Asian markets. Land Rover may have decided that there isn't a place for the Sport HST in UK and Europe thanks to our preference towards diesel models.

The HST also gets a number of styling upgrades over the normal car, such as black exterior detailing including the roof and grille surrounds. Black 21-inch satin grey wheels feature, and 22-inchers are optional. Inside there's two-tone leather, and contrasting gloss black trim and headlining.

The HST also gets a number of chassis tweaks over the standard car. Changes to the suspension reduce body roll, while an upgraded brake package with massive 20-inch discs also feature.

Also at New York will be a number of enhancements for the 2016 model year Range Rover Sport, which gets new tech including stop/start for the TDV8 models for the first time, and EU6 emissions enhancements across the range.

A new 'InControl Protect' app allows owners to check the fuel level remotely and communicate with Land Rover Assistance, while also unlocking the car from your phone. Auto Access Height is included too, which automatically lowers the vehicle to aid entry and exit.
