Maserati GranTurismo Zeda marks end of production

The GranTurismo Zeda commemorates the last day of production for Maserati’s sports car, while heralding its all-electric successor

This is the Maserati GranTurismo Zeda. It’s a unique version of the Italian brand’s long-lived sports car which was created to mark the end of the vehicle’s production. The GranTurismo and its convertible sibling, the GranCabrio, will be replaced by an all-new model next year that will feature an electrified powertrain and autonomous driving technology.

The GranTurismo Zeda is finished in a bespoke tri-tone paint job, designed by the brand’s own styling house Centro Stile Maserati. It features satin, gloss and metallic effects, transitioning from burnished silver, through matte black, to Maserati Blue. The Zeda rides on Maserati’s own 20-inch “Nero Lucido” alloys, finished in gun-metal grey.

Maserati GranCarbrio review

Like the standard Maserati GranTurismo Sport, the Zeda is powered by a naturally aspirated 4.7-litre V8 engine which develops 454bhp and 520Nm of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic gearbox, offering a 0–62mph time of 4.8 seconds and a top speed of 185mph.

Elsewhere at Maserati, a new mid-size SUV and Alfieri sports car will also launch in the coming years. The Alfieri will be offered with a choice of three Ferrari-developed powertrains – including an all-electric version capable of 0–62mph in around two seconds.

The brand’s Modena production facility is currently being retooled for the new vehicles. Maserati recently fitted a new, environmentally friendly paint booth, which allows customers to personally view their cars as they are being painted.
