Mazda 2 gets new look with exclusive Red Edition
Mazda is boosting appeal for buyers of its popular Mazda 2 supermini with new high-specification Red Edition
Mazda has announced a new Red Edition of the Mazda 2 supermini. Going on sale 1st September, the exclusive trim will be limited to just 400 cars and is priced at £14,995.
Visually the Red Edition is marked out by a Soul Red-coloured roof spoiler and rear underskirt. Buyers will be able to choose between Snowflake White Pearlescent or Black Mica paint. To complete the look 15” alloy wheels finished in Dark Gunmetal are optionally available at cost of £300.
The Red theme continues inside with special coloured seat trim, door inserts, knee pad inserts and interior décor panel. This is in addition to the already high kit levels provided by the SEL Nav trim the car is based on, including air-conditioning, Bluetooth, DAB, cruise control and a seven-inch colour touch-screen display with sat-nav.
The Red Edition is powered by the 89bhp 1.5-litre SKYACTIV-G petrol engine, offering decent performance and low running costs, with fuel economy of 62.7mpg and 105g/km CO2 emissions.
A similar special edition has graced the MX-5 recently, too. Although called the MX-5 Icon, rather than Red Edition, that car also featured a red spoiler and red detailing inside and out when the car was revealed at the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The Mazda 2 Red Editon will go on sale in September, priced at £14,995.
