2015 Mercedes-AMG C 63 prices and specs revealed

Official prices and specs of the new Mercedes-AMG C 63 AMG have been revealed ahead of its arrival in early 2015

Mercedes has released further details and official prices of the Mercedes-AMG C 63 super-saloon and estate, following its debut at the Paris Motor Show. The new car is on sale now for a small premium over the old model, with deliveries beginning in Spring 2015.

The standard C 63 saloon and estate will get a healthy 469bhp and 650Nm of torque from its 4.0-litre Biturbo V8. This quite significantly trumps the BMW M3, which makes do with 425bhp and 550Nm.

The flagship 'S' spec gets 503bhp and 700Nm of torque, distancing the Mercedes from the BMW even further. However, 0-62mph times are broadly similar to the BMW, at 4.1 seconds for the standard car and 4.0 seconds for the 'S'.

Prices start from £59,795 for the standard saloon, with the estate commanding a £1,200 premium. The faster 'S' model starts at £66,545. Standard equipment includes AMG electric memory sports seats and wheel, COMAND infotainment system, a locking rear diff, dynamic engine mounts and 18-inch AMG alloys.

There will also be an 'Edition 1' version of the C 63 on sale at launch. Based on the S, the Edition 1 will cost £73,500 in saloon form and £74,700 for the estate.

On the outside, the C 63 S Edition 1 features unique 19-inch AMG red-detailed alloy wheels. There are also AMG graphics and black aluminium replacing the chrome trim. Red highlights feature on the grille and mirrors, while at the back of the saloon there’s a contrasting black spoiler.

The standard car isn't exactly sparsely-equipped, but the Edition 1 adds quilted black Nappa leather with red stitching throughout, red carbon fibre trim on the centre console, a 590W Burmester surround sound system, an LED Intelligent Light System, panoramic electric glass sunroof and keyless start.

Despite being more powerful than the outgoing, naturally-aspirated 6.2-litre V8, the new C 63's twin-turbocharged V8 is nearly a third more efficient. Both the standard car and the 503bhp S manage 34.5mpg in saloon form, and 33.6mpg for the estate.

CO2 emissions are also down at 192g/km for the saloon, and 196g/km for the estate. Top speed is limited to 155mph on all variants.

The Mercedes-AMG C 63 is on sale now with deliveries commencing next Spring.
