Mercedes CLA gets five star Euro NCAP rating
Mercedes CLA and three other models are given full marks in the latest round of safety testing
Euro NCAP has awarded the Mercedes CLA, Peugeot 2008, Suzuki SX4 S-Cross and Jeep Cherokee the full five stars in its latest round of safety testing.
The Suzuki SX4 S-Cross performed particularly well with a score of 92 per cent in the adult occupant test, 80 per cent in child occupant, 72 per cent in the pedestrian test and 81 per cent for safety assist.
While all the cars managed good result across all four categories, the Jeep Cherokee suffered on the pedestrian testing with a score of 67 per cent. Euro NCAP was concerned about the edge of the bonnet and around the windscreen pillars.
Overall, the scores were as expected, with the Mercedes CLA always likely to perform well in the tests thanks to its array of clever safety systems.
Meanwhile, the Peugeot 2008, based on the smaller 208 that was also given the full five stars was always expected to manage the full marks, too.
