Mercedes E63 AMG S

The Mercedes E63 AMG S is the most powerful E-Class ever sold in the UK and it starts at £83,740

Mercedes E63 AMG S Model

Prices for the Mercedes E63 AMG S Model have been announced. The first UK cars will begin rolling off the AMG production line from June, and will cost from £83,740 for the saloon and £85,530 for the estate - £9,995 more than the regular E63 models.

The E63 S Model is the most powerful E-Class that Mercedes has ever sold in the UK. It’s powered by an uprated version of the AMG 5.5-litre twin-turbo V8 engine. In the regular E63 it develops 549bhp and 720Nm of torque, but this climbs to 577bhp and 800Nm in the S Model.

As a result, the S Model can complete the 0-62mph sprint in 4.1 seconds for the saloon and 4.2 seconds for the estate – 0.1 seconds faster than the regular E63.

However, the S Model sold in the UK is only available with rear-wheel drive. In left-hand drive markets, the S Model can be had with Mercedes’ 4MATIC four-wheel drive system that cuts the 0-62mph time to 3.6 seconds for the saloon and 3.7 seconds for the estate.

The four-wheel drive system can’t be adapted for right-hand drive cars, as the front differential would get in the way of the steering column.

Top speed is limited to 155mph for all cars, and fuel consumption figures remain the same as the standard E63 for all models. The saloon returns a claimed 28.5mpg and emits 232g/km of CO2, while the estate returns 28.3mpg, and emits 234g/km of CO2.

To distinguish the S Model cars from the rest of the range, each gets a gloss black front bumper insert, side sill panels and rear trim strip, an AMG spoiler in body colour, 19-inch alloys, red brake calipers, and a subtle ‘S’ badge on the bootlid.

Inside, there’s black nappa leather upholstery, silver seat belts, an electric rear roller blind for the Saloon, AMG illuminated door sills, and an AMG instrument cluster with S Model badging.
