New Mercedes S63 AMG vs Nissan 200SX drift off

The Mercedes S63 AMG takes on a drift-prepared Nissan 200SX in this ultimate drift challenge

We've staged some crazy battles in the past, including pitting a lawn mower against a Honda Civic, and a superbike against a BMW M5. This time, we've headed to the race track for a drifting challenge between a storming drift-prepped Nissan 200SX and the stately Mercedes S-Class (albeit in the powerful S63 AMG form).

Mercedes S63 AMG review

In comparison to the Nissan, the Mercedes S63 AMG looks almost humble in terms of its outer appearance. But don't be fooled; it's backed up by 900Nm of torque and a 520bhp, 5.5-litre V8 BiTurbo. It's heavier than its competitor, though, at 1995kg.

The Nissan 200SX, on the other hand, weighs in at 990kg. It's also powered by a 520bhp, 2.0-litre turbo engine, with 480Nm of torque - perfect for spinning up those rear wheels.

So which car will win this drift challenge? The Mercedes S63 AMG, you'd argue, usually feels better suited to high-speed cruising. Can it tackle the rigours of our drifting challenge to overcome the Nissan 200SX? And can Lesley - one of our road testers - manage to hold a glass of champagne in the back seat of the Mercedes, while it's mid-drift? Watch the video and find out!
