New all-electric Nissan e-NV200 XL Voltia van launched

Enlarged version of all-electric e-NV200 van offers 90 percent more storage space than the standard model

Nissan has revealed a larger version of its all-electric e-NV200 panel van, called the e-NV200 XL. The new, upsized model is a collaboration between Nissan and European engineering firm Voltia, and it’s due to go on sale in the UK later this year.

The XL Voltia features a box extension that expands the length and height of the standard e-NV200’s load bay by around 50cm in each dimension. As a result, it boasts a maximum storage volume of eight cubic metres, which is 90 percent larger than the standard model.

Due to the added weight of the conversion, the XL Voltia’s maximum payload is around 120kg less than the standard e-NV200, at 580kg. However, its 1.22-metre wide load bay remains unchanged, meaning it can still transport two Euro pallets.

It’s powered by the same electric drivetrain as the standard e-NV200 van, using a front-mounted 108bhp electric motor and a 40kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Nissan is yet to officially confirm the XL’s range but, due to the added weight and air resistance of the roof-extension, we expect it will be lower than the standard model’s 124-mile figure.

Charge times will be identical to the standard e-NV200. So, when it’s connected to a commercially available 50kW DC fast-charger, the XL Voltia will recover a full charge in less than an hour. Using a domestic 7kW wallbox unit, the battery pack will achieve the same level of charge in around eight hours.

Prices for the e-NV200 XL Voltia will be confirmed closer to the model’s UK on-sale date. When it does reach UK shores, the extended panel van will be available for purchase either directly from an approved Nissan dealer, or as an aftermarket conversion from the West Midlands-based specialist Bevan Group.
