New VW Touran to cost from £22,240
Volkswagen has revealed prices and specs for the all-new Touran, with DAB radio as standard
Volkswagen has opened the order books for its Touran MPV, and announced prices and specifications.
The Touran will start at £22,240 for the basic S model fitted with the 1.2-litre TSI engine, and rise all the way to £30,510 for a 2.0-litre TDI in SEL trim with an automatic gearbox.
Trims are S, SE, SE Family and SEL, and all Tourans are equipped with seven airbags, DAB radio, air-conditioning and roof rails.
SE trim adds niceties like all-round parking sensors and iPod connectivity, while SE Family adds a panoramic glass roof and a voice amplification system that allows the driver to be heard by all rear passengers - be they adults or unruly children.
The popular choice is likely to be the 1.6 TDI in SE trim, which will cost £25,230, with a hefty £1,300 premium if you need an automatic gearbox.
The Touran impressed us with excellent build quality and a spacious interior, as well as a decent drive courtesy of the Volkswagen Group's MQB platform. Against it were slightly noisy engines and a cramped third row of seats.
Order books open on September 2nd and the first UK deliveries are expected in September.
