New 435bhp Porsche Macan Turbo breaks cover at Frankfurt

Porsche has revealed the facelifted version of its Macan Turbo SUV for the first time with a new twin-turbo V6 engine

Porsche has revealed an updated version of the Porsche Macan Turbo. The revised flagship model in Porsche’s compact SUV range packs a new 2.9-litre V6 engine, chassis tweaks and a design overhaul inside and out.

The outgoing Macan Turbo’s 3.6-litre twin-turbo V6 engine has made way for a smaller-capacity but higher-powered 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 unit. It develops 435bhp and is capable of propelling the Macan from 0-62mph in a claimed 4.3 seconds, then onto a top speed of 167mph. Power is sent to a four-wheel drive system via a seven-speed PDK gearbox as standard.

Chassis tweaks include new carbide coated brakes that are claimed to offer better response and less fade than before, while new 20-inch alloy wheels are also standard. Height adjustable air suspension, new shock absorber hydraulics and carbon ceramic brakes are optional extras.

The Macan Turbo adopts many of the exterior changes first seen on the facelifted Macan S last year; a reshaped front bumper, new LED headlamps and a full-length light bar at the rear are the main visual updates. The Turbo model is marked out from lesser Macans by the fixed double-rear wing and sports exhaust system.

Inside, Porsche has added a new 10.9-inch HD touchscreen display, a BOSE surround sound system and Wi-Fi hotspot. On sale now, the Macan Turbo starts from £68,530.
