Toyota Proace City revised for 2022 with new trim-level and engine
Toyota has added its range-topping Design specification to its Proace City van line-up, along with a new 128bhp diesel engine
Toyota has given the Proace City range a shake-up for 2022. The compact panel van is now available to order in the company’s generously equipped Design specification, and with a more powerful 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine.
Standard equipment for the flagship Toyota Proace City Design model includes 16-inch alloy wheels, body-coloured bumpers, satellite navigation and an alarm. Buyers also get a host of extra safety equipment, including a pre-collision system, lane departure warning, road sign assist and a driver fatigue warning. Prices start from £27,995 including VAT.
From launch, the new specification will only be available with a 99bhp 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine, which it shares with the Peugeot Partner and Citroen Berlingo. However, in spring 2022, the range will expand to include a new 128bhp version of the 1.5 unit.
The more powerful engine will come fitted as standard with an eight-speed automatic gearbox, and prices will start from £29,045 including VAT. As part of the restructure, Toyota has also dropped the 74bhp 1.5-litre diesel option from the Proace City line-up.
Further down the range, there’s the entry-level Active and mid-spec Icon trims, which are priced from £23,595 and £25,695 respectively, both including VAT. The base model features 16-inch steel wheels, automatic headlamps, manual air-conditioning, electric windows and a DAB radio with Bluetooth connectivity.
Icon models build on this level of equipment with automatic wipers, a height adjustable driver’s seat and a touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. There’s also added safety and convenience features, including front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera and cruise control.
Next year, Toyota will also introduce a pure-electric version of the Proace City to the UK market, which shares the same 134bhp electric motor and 50kWh battery as the Peugeot e-Partner, which should offer a maximum range of around 170 miles.
